Hullo friends. I am here with new type of post to share. I have long lamented over what type of content to provide behind a paywall because I can’t seem to commit to anything additional; it feels gross to try and squeeze writing out when it doesn’t come naturally and it feels weird to only publish to a subset of people. I have, however, thought many times about writing a more detailed journal of how we are living our lives. I have been hesitant to do this because it feels pretentious and prescriptive and I have no desire to be either of those things, but have recently really been inspired by
and her captured moments, so I think it’s time to take the next step.I can recognize, as I move through our life without school trying to find balance between being in the present and despising our present state of being, that what we are doing is different. And that different-ness might be worth sharing as inspiration for others. My good friend Helen once told me that it’s important for people to share when they are living counter culturally or otherwise we just continue to regurgitate the status quo.
So here I am. My aim is to share a bit more about our day to day; about thoughts of how to integrate slow intentional work into our technology heavy consent-based homeschooling practice; about the work that we’re doing in the home and about the work that I’m doing in the community; about the way that we’re consuming; about that challenges (because I want to keep it real) and the successes (because celebration is important) and, if possible, doing it all while decentering myself in the process because I think that’s important.
